Tasting Notes
Back in 2009, Kris and Joe got their first dog together and named her Ugni Blanc after one of the most widely planted white wine varietals in France. A few years later, they learned that there were a couple vineyards in Arizona starting to work with this delicious varietal (known as Trebbiano in Italy). Curious to see what this varietal could do in our high desert landscape, they started seeking it out whenever they could. This bottling comes from the Bonita Springs Vineyard, owned and operated by our friends at Arizona Stronghold Vineyards. This wine still exhibits the delicate minerality, subtle fruit and silky mouthfeel so typical of this varietal, but because these grapes come from a slightly cooler part of the Willcox AVA, the there’s an intensity on the palate that makes this wine ethereal. Ugni Blanc the canine is no longer with us, but her sweet memory lives on for another vintage! Only 95 cases produced.
